Who this is for
Holders whose snapshot journals have loosened spines, torn covers, or pages damaged by humidity or handling — but whose entries remain worth preserving.
What is included
- Damage assessment with written condition report
- Page repair for minor tears at gutter margins
- New spine and cover attachment using archival adhesive
- Protective slip sheet inserted at front and back
What is excluded
- Re-transcription of illegible entries
- Replacement of missing pages
- Deacidification treatment (quoted separately if needed)
Process
- Bring the journal for assessment. We photograph damage and provide a quote within three business days.
- Upon deposit approval, the volume enters our bindery queue.
- Restoration typically completes within two to three weeks.
- Collection with care instructions for long-term storage.
Constraints
Severely mould-damaged pages may be beyond restoration. We will advise honestly if a new journal with transcribed entries is more practical than rebinding.
